The car control can be realized on a PC with Linux system, or you may also apply it in a Linux virtual machine.

In this kit, MJPG-streamer is applied for image capturing and video transmission in a real-time manner. You may view the video by web browser on any device. Firefox and Google Chrome are recommended.

Great Kit to try out Raspberry Pi3 By Al 2018-04-23 01:23:05

This is really a great starter Kit. I had a Rasp.PI3 and was looking for some project to use it with. Setup takes a while but I think thats part of the fun. I am not sure you can rely solely on the instruction manual, but the youtube video were very detailed and very useful.

"Excellent how to build video series from Sunfounder available on youtube. They put some good effort into those videos and they really make the whole build and test process much more enjoyable!

Mechanical assembly more difficult than the electrical connections, so be prepared to do both.
A little disappointed that the car uses angular movement of the front axle. I would have preferred ""tank like"" forward vs. reverse control of the motors to control movement direction."

This is my first Pi robot attempt and i have to say it was very enjoyable. The kit came with everything listed. The entire build took about 6 hours. My only recommendations are to go through the build instructions first and fully set up your Pi including WiFi prior to installing it on the car. Also, go to their web site and watch the videos for installation instructions. The book inuded it hard to follow.

I did a lot of research and this kit looked like it was exactly what I wanted. It did not disappoint. It does not contain a raspberry pi (I already had one). It contains all the components needed to use the full resources of the raspberry pi without another computer, such as the arduino. I love the look of the Plexiglas parts. Everything is in the box (except the raspberry pi and the batteries) that is needed to build and run the car. The manual has instructions on downloading the software. The software worked. There were two things not in the instructions that took me a while to get working: 1) the script to start the video (start.sh) needed permissions changed, I used chmod 777 start.sh. The server didn't start up until I went to raspi-config and enabled I2C. One small problem I had to overcome was the really small holes and screws used to mount the webcam tilt and zoom servos. The source code is in Python give the car rudimentary control over the car and it needs to be improved to make the car able to be controlled effectively. But that is why I bought the car, to write the code to make it do what I want.

This is the most fun project I have found for the Raspberry pi. I bought is for a grandson (16 year old boy) and may have to order another for myself. The setup instructions are complex but well documented - probably not suitable for a younger person without help from a Java/Python/Unix savy adult. Friends of mine (other Raspberry Pi hackers, also retired and still fascinated with this fun project) are also getting one for grandchildren and perhaps themselves. Great fun for the price.

Good base for prototyping a moving sensor base By roger 2017-05-12 02:58:40

This kit has served me well as a base for my radiation topology robot building adventure. Currently in the process of completely rebuilding it with 3D printed structures as the steering is loose, and the access to the hdmi port is impossible without taking screws out, pulling the board off, checking what's going on, then putting it back together to drive around again, etc, etc. I am happy I bought it as it provided a basis to start building off of and prototyping with. Boards and sensors are easily stack-able (although this makes the before mentioned access issue even worse). Control over wifi is seriously laggy, ~1-3 seconds behind, so installed some ultrasonic rangers to prevent collisions. If you're looking for an RC car, definitely not this one, but as something to toy with to learn the code for motion and prototyping something, solid choice.

Stupendo articolo, compreso di pezzi di ricambio anche come viti bulloni ecc..occhio alla programmazione perché ci sono alcuni passaggi non specificati sul manuale come abilitare permessi o usare bene i terminali..chi non è molto pratico di linux potrebbe avere qualche difficoltà ma cmq l'assistenza risponde tempestivamente e cortesemente!

Dank der bei YouTube verfügbaren Anleitungsvideos und der ebenfalls sehr guten Anleitung ist das Smart Video Car innerhalb von zwei bis drei Stunden zusammengebaut. Alles passt einwandfrei zusammen, da die Verarbeitung der Platinen sehr gut ist. Nicht einmal hatte ich den Ikea-Effekt, dass Löcher nicht stimmten oder es nicht genau passte! Erst bei der Installation der notwendigen Software Pakete gab es ein paar Probleme, die aber dank des ebenfalls vorhandenen Forums schnell gelöst werden konnten.

Es wird alles notwendige Werkzeug mitgeliefert, wobei ich zusätlich eine Spitzzange verwendet habe, da einige der Teile sehr klein sind. Von fast allen Teilen werden mehr mitgeliefert als benötigt werden.

Das einzige was ich mir noch wünschen würde, sind weiterführende Tutorials, so wie es sie für die Arduino-Version gibt!
