Arduino RFID Door Lock Project with MFRC522 V2

Course Introduction

In this lesson, we’ll build a 2.0 access-control system using the MFRC522 module, a 1602 LCD, and an active buzzer.

Valid cards light the green LED and play an “access granted” tone; invalid cards light the red LED and trigger a warning alarm.

If this is your first time working with an Arduino project, we recommend downloading and reviewing the basic materials first.

Common Connections:

MFRC522 Module
SDA:
Connect to 10 on the Arduino.
SCK: Connect to 13 on the Arduino.
MOSI: Connect to 11 on the Arduino.
MISO: Connect to 12 on the Arduino.
GND: Connect to breadboard’s negative power bus.
RST: Connect to 9 on the Arduino.
3.3V: Connect to breadboard’s passive power bus.

Active Buzzer
+: Connect to on the Arduino.
-: Connect to breadboard’s negative power bus.

I2C LCD 1602
SDA:
Connect to A4 on the Arduino.
SCL: Connect to A5 on the Arduino.
GND: Connect to breadboard’s negative power bus.
VCC: Connect to breadboard’s red power bus.

LED
Connect the LEDs cathode to the negative power bus on the breadboard, and the Green LED anode to the 5 on the Arduino through a 1 kΩ resistor, the Red LED cathode to the 6 on the Arduino through a 1 kΩ resistor.

Writing the Code

Note
You can copy this code into Arduino IDE.
To install the library, use the Arduino Library Manager and search for LiquidCrystal I2C and install it.
To install the library, use the Arduino Library Manager and search for MFRC522 and install it.
Don’t forget to select the board(Arduino UNO R4 WIFI) and the correct port before clicking the Upload button.
